The Kolb model of experiential learning cycle is often used during learning. This model suggests that there are four stages that follow each other. The first stage is concrete experience. Every learner will start at this stage. They will go through an experience that teaches them something. The next stage is reflection, here the looks back at the experience and creates a reflection on their personal experience. The third stage is abstract conceptualization, here the learner wants to know the hows and whys of the event. They want to learn from the experience and ensure an improved outcome for the next time. In the third stage is where the inner theorist appears. The fourth and final stage is active experimentation. Here the learner tries the activity again, they take what they learned from the last time and see if what they have learned worked.
